Lean In To the Little Moments

Some of you have heard me say that life is lived in the small moments. Let me explain that a little further because this little concept has big potential for changing your life.

We tend to look for big moments to be happy - a party, a birthday or other celebration, a vacation, a promotion at work and so on. These moments are wonderful, but they do not make up the majority of our lives. And if you wait for the big moments you will miss out on the little ones that happen each and every day. That is a missed opportunity.

When you lean into the little moments, you will find that they quickly add up to something substantial!

So what do these little moments look like? They are simple and easy to miss if you aren't paying attention. Here are a few of my favorite kinds of moments to watch for:

  • Your pet curling up next to you

  • A beautiful sunny day (or a quiet rainy one!)

  • A hug from a loved one

  • Your favorite song coming on the radio

  • A meme that makes you smile

  • Snuggling in to your favorite blanket

What kinds of moments make you smile or feel warm inside? Do you take the moment to savor those moments or do you hurry along your way?

As Ferris Bueller famously said, "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it".

So pause and look around. What wonderful, small moments can you pay attention to that will fill your heart?
